In 2023, the Pure and Applied Chemistry International Conference, known as PACCON will be held at Mae Fah Luang University, Chiang Rai, Thailand during January 20 – 21. The theme for PACCON 2023 is “Chemical Diversity towards Sustainable Development Goals”. It is undeniable that chemistry has a critical role in achieving sustainable development. Advanced research involves the theme will be displayed at the conference. The PACCON is the annual meeting for Thai chemists to present and share their research. Besides, there will be plenary lectures given by world-renowned chemists, presentations by the Chemical Society of Thailand’s awardees, and invited talks by top chemists. In 2023, we have the honor to have the plenary lecture given by a Nobel laureate. The PACCON was started in 2001 by the chemical society of Thailand and became a tradition. An academic institution will in turn co-host the PACCON. I would like to congratulate Mae Fah Luang University, the co-host of PACCON 2023, for its dedication and devotion to making the conference a success. Mae Fah Luang University is world-ranked, and its chemistry research is among the top in Thailand. The venue for the conference will be the university which is well known for its beautiful landscape. Chiang Rai is a city in the north of Thailand. It is rich in culture, and you would be engulfed with northern-style (Lanna) culture and hospitality. Moreover, the city is surrounded by mountains with breathtaking views. The climate of Chiang Rai during the month of January will be the most darling and it is the best time to visit. With all this background and the support from the university, the faculty, and the chemistry department, I wholeheartedly believe that PACCON 2023 will be taken to another level.
